BWM and Mercedes Preparing to Take on Ferrari

While both Mercedes and BMW have been in and out of the Supercar market, neither has ever really mounted any type of threat to Ferrari. That may all change soon. By the year 2002, both BMW and Mercedes plan to build their own mid-engine Ferrari fighters. The BMW will feature a 375 hp 24 valve, 6 cylinder engine with variable camshafts. Mercedes is considering building their new Supercar, code named “Silver Arrow”, around a 5.0 litre V8 or a 5.8 litre V12. Power should be pegged between 425 and 500 hp. To add even more excitement to the Ferrari-BMW-Mercedes showdown will be BMW’s return to Formula 1 racing where Ferrari and Mclaren-Mercedes are the two most dominant teams. In the world of $250,000 sports cars, winning in F1 means everything! MTM
