Audi TT Roadster Shown in Europe

Love it or hate it, the Audi TT is a very unique and special car. Personally I had a hard time warming up to it but seeing it for the first time in Detroit in January changed my opinion. It may sound like a cliché, but this is not a car that can be fully appreciated without seeing it in person. Like the Solara, the TT was first presented as a Roadster and arrives as a Coupe. Normally this is a bit of a let down but the Coupe is very nicely done. Europeans had a glimpse recently of the TT Roadster, which should arrive in North America sometime next year. The Roadster is virtually unchanged from the Concept car first seen here a few years back. Audi also plans to expand the TTs’ power options. While the current 170 hp engine is more than adequate, a 225 hp powerplant, expected in the near future, should make this a sensational car worthy of thousands more than its expected price tag of $50,000. To keep the price of TT reasonable, Audi is sharing platforms with the new Volkswagen Beetle and Golf. The TT represents some new and innovative thinking at Audi that is sure to give their German rivals a few sleepless nights.
