Jaguar to Expand Line with an S-Type Wagon

Just as our pulse rate is returning to normal after feasting our eyes on the sensual new Jaguar S-Type saloon, those good folks from Coventry have hinted at an S-Type wagon. The S-Type will, without question, broaden Jaguars’ appeal worldwide and is expected to double corporate sales. With sensational retro lines and a clear link to its heritage, the S-Type should prove to be a worthy challenger to the German automakers who have had a stranglehold on the midrange luxury car market. The wagon will give Jaguar a model to match BMW’s 540i Touring, the Mercedes E Series Wagon and the Audi A6 Avant. Insiders are proclaiming that the S-Type is destined to be the sportiest wagon ever produced. Currently the S-Type is offered with a 3.0 litre V6 producing 240 hp or a 4.0 litre V8 rated at 281 hp. Both engines are mated to an automatic transmission. Providing a manual option would be the next logical step. Hopefully the S-Type wagon will make it to production, offering another practical alternative to a high end sport-ute.
