Winning Diesel Race Car Breaks the Mold

In July, 2006, the R8 won its final race, giving way to the new R10 turbodiesel, which won the American LeMans Series championship at the Mosport round in Canada in August, as well as the overall victory in June at the 24 Hours of LeMans, the famed, 83-year-old French endurance race. Audi’s R8 went nearly unbeaten in North America’s premier sports racing series from 2000, winning every championship through 2005, as well as five victories at LeMans, still known today as the world’s most grueling endurance race.
