A short ride on the Windsor public rocket - and we've arrived at Cobo. Efficiently ushered through the security checks, the group settled at our favourite home away from home for breakfast. Thank you Audi for your hospitality.
Ford is first on the press launch agenda. Held at the Cobo arena, the house is packed and buzzing. On the heels of GM's depressing economical situations - everyone is expecting Ford will follow suite. How far reaching will the cuts get - who knows - but restructuring is a necessity. More important, Ford needs to entice excitement out of their product lines. Can Shelby alone shoulder Ford's recovery... can the Shelby name resurrect Ford's performance moniker.

New concepts from from Ford:
 Reflex
Small two door with forward opening reversed hinged butterfly doors. Sporty, clean and family friendly. Comes equipped with diesel hybrid motor with outstanding performance. 0-60 in less then 7 seconds.
- F250 Super Chief
Big, bold, retro - yet modern with a promised V10 (burns three different fuels - nice!). Inspired by the iconic locomotives that criss-crosssed America in yester-years. Comfort - how about deploying foot ottomans.
- Shelby 500
Carol Shelby himself delivered the vehicle to centre stage - although as a passenger. 475 HP makes this the fastest Mustang ever. Watch out tuners - lots of room to make this puppy go faster.
- Edge
As always, the consumers decide manufacturers fate. Let the games begin!

Winning Diesel Race Car Breaks the Mold

Audi Sport’s newest winning technology is focused on fuel efficiency, low exhaust emissions and exploring new territory in the world of racing.
In the words of Audi of America executive vice president Johan de Nysschen, the Audi R8 is the “most successful car in motorsport history,” with 63 victories in a total of 80 races. In July, 2006, the R8 won its final race, giving way to the new R10 turbodiesel, which won the American LeMans Series championship at the Mosport round in Canada in August, as well as the overall victory in June at the 24 Hours of LeMans, the famed, 83-year-old French endurance race. Audi’s R8 went nearly unbeaten in North America’s premier sports racing series from 2000, winning every championship through 2005, as well as five victories at LeMans, still known today as the world’s most grueling endurance race.
