HONDA ANNOUNCES ELEMENT PRICING
 MONTREAL (November 21, 2002) - Combining the best utilities of an SUV, pick-up truck and van, the much anticipated 2003 Honda Element will have a manufacturer suggested retail price starting at $23,900, Honda Canada Inc. announced today.
Set to arrive at Honda dealers mid-January, the Element is designed for active buyers who require a versatile vehicle to meet their needs. Featuring 64 different seating configurations, a wipe-clean flat urethane-coated utility floor, centre-opening side cargo doors and a functional clamshell tailgate, the all-new Element was designed with a compact exterior with maximum interior space.
The 2003 Element is available in two trims: Element and Element Y Package. Both trims are front wheel drive, however, the Element Y Package is available with Honda's Real Time 4WD system.
The base Element includes such features as:
- 5-speed manual transmission (with optional 4-speed automatic)
- Air conditioning
- AM/FM stereo with CD player
- Power windows
- Power door locks
- 'Fabric for Extreme Conditions' (FCX) on front seats
- Interior colour-matched instrument gauges
- 16-inch steel wheels
- Waterproof seat fabric
- Urethane-coated utility floor
- Front 12-volt accessory outlet
- 4-wheel disc brakes
The Y Package builds upon the Element with:
- A 270-watt AM/FM/CD audio system with 6 speakers and a subwoofer
- Independent subwoofer control
- MP3/digital media auxiliary input jack
- Cruise control
- Rear 12-volt accessory outlet
- 4-wheel anti-lock braking system with electronic brake distribution
- 16-inch alloy wheels
- 'Fabric for Extreme Conditions' (FCX) on both front and rear seats
- Metallic gray body panel cladding and utility floor
Element Y Package 4WD further adds:
- Honda's Real Time 4WD
- Removable rear skylight
- 4-speed automatic transmission
Power is delivered to the drive wheels by a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine featuring Honda's latest i-VTEC engine technology to deliver both low-end torque and high-rpm power with reduced exhaust emissions and improved fuel economy. With 160 horsepower and 159 lb.-ft. of torque, the Element achieves stringent Tier 2 - BIN 5: LEV II - LEV emissions standards.
