SUBARU FORESTER THE ONLY SMALL SUV TO EARN “GOOD” RATING
FROM IIHS IN BOTH FRONT OFFSET AND SIDE IMPACT TESTS

Motor Test Magazine - Its all About Motoring! MTM is Canadas Automotive WebazineThe Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has announced that the Subaru Forester has received a “good” rating in the Institute’s first side impact crash tests. This makes the Forester the only small SUV to achieve a “good” score – the Institute’s highest rating – in both front offset and side impact crash evaluations.

The IIHS attributed the Forester’s superior performance in the side impact tests to the protection provided by standard side airbags and the fact that there was less intrusion into the passenger compartment than in other small SUVs tested.

“Subaru designs and builds vehicles to provide an extremely high level of occupant protection and it is gratifying to have these efforts validated by the objective experts at the IIHS,” said Norio Osakabe, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Subaru Canada, Inc. “The IIHS found that head injuries are a leading cause of death in side impact crashes. Side airbags, which are standard on the Forester, were found to be crucial to reducing the severity of those injuries.”

The IIHS tested 12 small SUVs to discover what happened if they were struck in the side by a pickup truck or SUV at about 30 mph. Complete results and more information about the side impact testing is available at the IIHS web site at www.hwysafety.org.Round seven of the FIA 2003 World Rally Championship starts in just two weeks’ time, when crews move to the island of Cyprus. Based around the holiday resort of Limassol, the event bears a close resemblance to the Acropolis, presenting a series of rocky, dry stages. Following a ceremonial start on Thursday, June 19, crews will contest a total of 341.05 competitive kilometres over three days.MTM

Ontarians DO NOT Pay 45% More For Auto Insurance

This past summer, the Canadian Consumers Association released a report stating that, on average, Ontario drivers pay 45% more for auto insurance than drivers in British Columbia.

I would say this number is out by at least $1,000.00.

But why take my word for it.
