Subaru's McGeer Claims Points in Maine Forest Rally
Subaru Rally Team Canada's Tom McGeer took another step towards repeating his North American Rally championship, finishing in fourth place at the Maine Forest Rally this weekend. The rally was won by British rally champion David Higgins in a Mitsubishi.
McGeer battled a series of small mechanical problems to stay in contention throughout one of the most technically challenging and hotly-contested rallies of the North American season.
"The field for this event is always strong," said McGeer. "With drivers like David Higgins, Paul Choiniere, Seamus Burke, Laughlin O'Sullivan and Ramana Langemman, the field is hugely competitive. That's why I'm always keen to compete in the U.S"
McGeer's finish gained him ten points in the North American Drivers' Championship. Manufacturers' points went to the Subaru Rally Team USA McGeer and co-driver Howard Davies rallied under the Team USA banner at this event in tribute to American team mates Mark Lovell and Roger Freeman who were tragically killed when their car left the road during the Oregon Trail rally just under a month ago.
The next event in the 2003 Subaru Canadian Rally Championship is the Rallye Defi Ste-Agathe, near Ste-Agathe, Québec, which starts on September 5th.
